A woman has taken to Reddit to share how her boyfriend got angry about her sharing a bed with her brother—and the internet is divided.

In the post shared to the discussion-based site by an account called Vibigiona, the 20-year-old woman revealed her brother came to visit her, having landed on an early morning flight.

Her boyfriend, 21, left the home the night before as his mother was not feeling well, but knew her brother, 26, was coming.

She then explained: "My brother arrives on Saturday at around 6:30 AM. He tries to wake me up but to no avail.

"He tells me: 'If you're not going to wake up, at least let me get into bed 'cause it's cold and I'm sleepy too.' I say okay and he gets in. We immediately fall asleep."

However, the siblings were then awoken by her boyfriend "yelling" at 10:30 AM.

"He starts saying how this is 'basically cheating,' asking if we had sex, if we're in an incestuous relationship, etc., that this is absolutely disgusting and mega inappropriate and other delusional things like that," the woman reveals.

"I tell him that we've always shared a bed while living at home and that this is 100% platonic. He [lets] me know that 'we were snuggling under the blankets while sleeping.' I tell him yeah, that's what people do when they share a bed and it's cold."

She then ends the post by saying she fought with her boyfriend for trying to sexualize her and her brother's relationship and headed to a hotel with a brother while he managed this "irrational jealousy."

In the comments section the story poster also outlines how her brother was initially supposed to sleep in the guest bedroom but "it's way more comfortable to sleep with someone especially under those circumstances. Plus we've been sharing beds ever since we were kids so it's nothing weird for us."

The post, which was shared on February 1, has attracted lots of attention online with more than 12,100 upvotes.

Additionally, more than 2,600 people have rushed to the comments section to share their thoughts on the woman's story, with many outraged at the boyfriend's behavior.

One Reddit user, Togocann49, wrote: "Your boyfriend has seen too much incest porn. It is absolutely okay to snuggle a sibling when cold and in bed. Unless you guys were touching inappropriate places, it wouldn't bother me (on its own), if I were in your BF's place."

Another person, Cinnamngrl, added: "This is his weird sexual issue. I guess it is privilege too. I mean it is really like only a few hundred years since every family lived in one room."

Noctisv020 exclaimed: "Huge red flag. Dude accused you of incest. That would be a deal breaker for most people in addition to his jealousy."

However, some people were a little perturbed by the idea of siblings sharing a bed including Actually_Avery who mused: "Apparently I'm in the minority that I find it a little weird to snuggle with your brother in bed?"

Happilyabroad agreed, typing: "Ya, I'm finding this thread kind of surreal to read through. Everyone is very very pro brother snuggling. I could never."

Others felt that while they couldn't wrap their head around cuddling their brother the boyfriend's action were inexcusable.

Seniort**t commented: "Idk [I don't know] being little spoon for one's brother is just weird, but me and my siblings definitely do not have the 'sleep in bed together' type of relationship.

"I can see why OPs [original poster's] boyfriend is weirded out by it, and honestly I might be too if I saw my boyfriend spooning with his little sister, but there's many ways to cuddle that don't include being pressed against each other. However, NONE of that excuses the sheer vitriol and disgusting accusations thrown at OP [original poster] by her boyfriend."

HiCabbage remarked: "The idea of sharing a bed with my brother (to say nothing of cuddling him) skeeves me right out, but BF's reaction was way uncalled for."
