Perhaps the worst thing about being a dog owner is having to come to terms with the fact that the furry friends have a much shorter lifespan than their human counterparts. One pet owner has captured exactly what that heartbreaking realization can feel like and the thoughts it can lead to in a viral clip.

One pet owner has captured exactly what that heartbreaking realization can feel like and the thoughts it can lead to in a viral clip.

The sweet video, which, as of writing, has been viewed more than 730,000 times since it was first shared by @furyandnick on Instagram on October 14, showed dog owner Nick Heyes cuddling up to his beloved Doberman, named Fury.

"I would literally trade years of my life for this dog to live forever. I know I'll never have a friend like this again," Heyes said in the post accompanying the video.

The post was captioned: "The bond we share is a treasure beyond words, one that transcends time and space. The joy in those soulful eyes, the warmth in every wag of the tail, and the unconditional love that flows between us is a precious gift that I cherish above all else."

"In the end, it's the quality of our time together that truly matters. For every day with this extraordinary friend is a precious gift–a reminder that love, loyalty, and friendship are worth cherishing and celebrating."
